“The unexpected is fun” is the motto of the new collection from Marc Cain. Innovative, exciting and varied are not necessarily the adjectives associated with a label like Marc Cain. It would probably be words like down-to-earth, calm and uncomplicated. But the fact that the German company can also do something different, namely unexpectedly new, is shown by the upcoming collection.
Prints and an extensive colour palette
The catwalk is filled with strong colours. Strong, dark tones meet delicate pastel shades. Nude is combined with black, yellow with red. Grey and camel are the rock in the surf and form the basis with all-over looks. The colour chart is completed by detailed prints, for example checks of different sizes, flowers and the Fleo print, a mixture of flower and leo. It all sounds pretty wild. But it fits.
The 70s: Retro becomes innovative
The colours and prints reflect a slight touch of the seventies trend. This is also reflected in the materials and cut. Marc Cain jumps on the velvet bandwagon and puts no less high-quality qualities such as cashmere, silk and mohair at the side of the noble material. The collection is innovative thanks to fabrics such as neoprene, lacquer and viscose.
The coats are the stars of the collection
The key pieces of the collection are the coats. Whether unusual fake fur or classically straight cut wool coats, the tops characterise the collection. Elements such as flounces and peplums give the collection a feminine look, light flared trousers and the kick flared, flared trousers with slightly shortened legs support the core idea of the outfits. Upholstered shoulders, A-line skirts and cable-pattern pullovers add the finishing touches.
Marc Cain's autumn-winter collection has achieved its goal: it's unexpected, fun and brings a breath of fresh air to the fashion house.
