The Louvre was opened in Abu Dhabi on 11 November 2017. A 3-minute time-lapse video has now been released that shows the viewer in summary how the impressive building by the renowned French architect Jean Novel was built.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is located on Saadiyat Island near the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The construction took eight years and cost around 1,5 billion euros. According to its own data, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is a “universal” art museum in which many works of art can be admired, ranging from local finds to the most expensive painting in the world - the Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci. For example, a Buddha's head, a Hindu goddess in stone, a Yemenite pentateuch, a Madonna with a child of Giovanni Bellini or Houdon's portrait bust of godless Voltaire can be seen.
