Vincent van Gogh was an exceptional talent. His works are world famous and hang in the biggest museums. And now it is even possible to immerse yourself in one of his works, literally. How does that work? The advertising agency Leo Burnett and Airbnb make it possible!
About a mile away from the Art Institue of Chicago, the advertising agency Leo Burnett has furnished an apartment, but not somehow. The room is a deceptively genuine replica of the painting “Bedroom in Arles”, only three-dimensional and life-size. The reason for this is the exhibition at the Art Institute. For the first time, all the works from the bedroom series painted by Vincent van Gogh between 1888 and 1889 can be exhibited.
For about $10 a night you can stay in the van Gogh room during the exhibition period, i.e. from February 14 to May 10, 2016, including tickets for the exhibition. Leo Burnett hopes that the extravagant accommodation will make for a successful exhibition. The creative marketing strategy seems to be working because the host Vincent's room is fully booked.
