Design Classic: MIURA Bar Stool By Konstantin Grcic
The Miura bar stool designed by Konstantin Grcic for the Italian design furniture manufacturer Plank has recently become a style icon of interior design for many design enthusiasts. With its peculiar, angular and, at first glance, rather uncomfortable shape, it is a star in the ouvre of the German industrial designer and has won numerous design prizes and awards in addition to the Red Dot and IF Product Design Awards. But unlike many others, Grcic is not just concerned with an expressive form: Made as a monoblock from polypropylene, the chair is very light, easy to stack and at the same time very stable.
Worldwide, the Miura bar stool has made it into the most important art and design exhibitions of modern industrial design and can be found in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Art Institute of Chicago.
